PRO-TIP : Check your microphone placement! Proper microphone placement is EXTREMELY important for loud, intelligible and clear communications.
The Hot-Mic® is a noise-cancelling microphone (similar to an Aviation microphone) meaning that the microphone needs to right next to the diver's lips (no further than 1/4" inch) for the microphone to properly pick up the diver's voice! Contrary to popular belief, the "silent world" of diving is actually a pretty noisy environment!
The microphone is also dynamic. This means that the more energy (volume from your voice) that goes into the microphone, the more energy that is going to come out of the other diver's earphones or Buddy Phone, resulting in communications that are easier to hear. So, when you are using underwater communications, make sure to use your "outside" voice!
It is good practice to do a quick pre-dive check to ensure the "face" of the microphone is fully exposed and that it sits right next to the diver's lips! ... See MoreSee Less
